Project Description

KRM Associates (KRM) has joined Cerner, a global leader in health care technology, and other industry leaders and innovators to help make seamless care available to the nation’s veterans. This newly formed team announced by Cerner will bring extensive experience in large enterprise systems and commercial sectors to modernize the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) electronic health record (EHR).

Cerner selected KRM as one of their partners in the execution of the project because KRM is one of the few companies employing Computer Programmers and System Architects with strong expertise in both VistA and modern software development and deployment tools. Because of this knowledge and ability, and KRM’s status as a small, woman-owned business, we bring key capabilities and familiarity with VA systems, processes and culture. KRM also has a history of working with Shepherd University on numerous projects as well as an intern program. Our intention is to include Shepherd as a key source of qualified personnel as well as ongoing support of the project.

Cerner VA Partnership Wheel

“We are proud KRM will be part of this important team of industry leaders that will shape the future of care for veterans through a modern EHR system,” said Travis Dalton, president, Cerner Government Services. “We will work together to address the needs and capabilities that are in the best interest of the VA. Our veterans deserve the highest quality care and with this team, we look forward bringing a modern, seamless system to those who have served our country.”

Cerner announced the historic agreement in May 2018 and VA made the program one of its top priorities to improve care for veterans. Using technology that has been deployed successfully at Department of Defense (DoD) medical facilities and thousands of provider sites globally, Cerner plans to provide seamless care across the VA’s high-performing integrated network, including VA facilities, community providers and DoD facilities.

Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia said, “I am pleased to congratulate KRM Associates on their newly announced partnership with Cerner and VA. I trust that KRM’s over two decades of expertise in the field of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems will prove invaluable to Cerner as they move forward in implementing their electronic health record for the Department of Veterans Affairs. I am also excited to recognize Shepherd University’s continuing academic partnership to ensure the next generation of IT health record specialists are well prepared to provide significant assistance to the VA, and specifically address the health care needs of our veterans.”
