KRM Strategic Initiatives
KRM has been involved in a number of innovative and creative relationships and projects with various clients. The following initiatives give an indication regarding KRM’s ability to create novel solutions to client challenges:
Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRDA)
KRM has developed a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRDA) with Georgetown University and the U.S. Army Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC). This agreement provides for research on approaches to secure technology collaboration in military medical information systems environments. This project will evaluate the applicability of surveying and analyzing security applications for evaluating, integrating and piloting secure technology solutions for the Federal Government and includes partnering with other academic, government and research organizations.
Risk Database System (RDB)
KRM has developed a Risk Database System (RDB) system for storing and analyzing security related information for DOD healthcare entities. This system captures threat, vulnerability, risk, and remediation information for Military Treatment Facilities worldwide. This repository will incorporate information for the Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard medical facilities and will securely limit access to authorized individuals. This system has been further enhanced and is now available as a general purpose risk assessment tool ENTISAS.
KRM Student Intern Program (KRM SIP)
KRM has developed a student intern program with Shepherd University providing internships to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Office of Information and Cyber Security (OCIS), at the Network and Security Operations Center (NSOC) in Martinsburg, West Virginia. This program offers undergraduate students the opportunity to gain professional experience within real-world business environments and perform work that is directly related to their academic field of study. See KRM SIP.
Center for Health Information Security (CHIS)
KRM has established a Center for Health Information Security (CHIS) within the VA in Martinsburg, WV. This program resulted from a KRM initiative that was supported by Senator Robert C. Byrd and the Department of Veterans Affairs. Currently this Center tests and assures security for the medical devices in use at VA Medical Centers. This Center has evolved into the HISD and MEDSAC programs at the VA.
