KRM Associates Inc teamed with Northrop Grumman to demonstrate a functional Health Information Exchange interacting with our Personal Health Record Solution. The exchange, developed with NHIN CONNECT Standards leveraged open source solutions capable of interacting with any NHIN CONNECT compliant architecture.
KRM worked with NG in developing adapters capable of feeding CCR and CCD records from a variety of systems in their exchange. Given the large open-source community in West Virginia, KRM developed and implemented adapters for Open-VistA architechture, as well as IHS's RPMS system.
The demonstration showed test records being requested by our PHR system, the request hitting the exchange, communicating with the source Open-VistA and RPMS systems, securely transmitting the documents to the HIE, and the PHR parsing this data into a readable, patient ready format. Additionally, the NG HIE solution is capable of extracting documents from DoD systems.
As we further develop our technologies these open-source initiatives are capable of providing a truly cost efficient and reliable solution to the National Health Information Exchange initiative. |
